                       IDID Scholars Program

scholars-2.jpg IDID Scholars Program should assist applicants in becoming more competitive and better prepared for dental school. While ethnic minorities make up 25% of the US population, only 5% of dentists are from these populations. According to the Sullivan Commission, the lack of minority health professionals is compounding the nation’s persistent racial and ethnic health disparities; and the Institute of Medicine recommends increasing the number of minority health professionals as a key strategy to eliminate health disparities. The IDID Scholars that are accepted into the program will receive assistance throughout dental school and commit to practice dentistry in an underserved community for a period of no less than two years upon completion of dental school.
